Fall Right Back into Fun: Griffin Farms Pumpkin Patch Opens for 2024 Season

By Savannah Logan

Get ready to spice up your fall at Griffin Farms Pumpkin Patch, where fun meets festive this October! With October sports, homecomings, and all-around chaos filling up your calendar, it’s time to carve out a day just for family fun on the farm. Opening on October 5th, 2024, Griffin Farms is back with an action-packed month of Saturdays (10-6) and Sundays (12-6) to give you four weekends to conquer your pumpkin patch bucket list. So go ahead and throw on your matching outfits (come on, you know you want to) and hit the road with the family over to West Blocton.

Admission is $10 per person (kids under two are free!), and trust me, you’ll get more than your money’s worth. Included in your ticket are family-friendly activities like the animal barn, a massive corn crib packed with 25 tons of kernels (kernels taken home via stuck in your kids shoes at the end of the day is kindly included with admission), a corn maze, tractor training tricycles, hamster wheels, hay mountain, and even a bison enclosure (yep, you read that right – bison! In Bibb County! Move over, Birmingham Zoo). Add in slides, swings, a toddler playground, and a 30’x70’ jump pad for the little ones, and your kiddos will be entertained for hours. For the thrill-seekers, the 18-foot rock wall, a 450-foot zipline, and a parent-powered mini zipline are bound to get hearts racing—but make sure you’re at least 46 inches tall for the high-flying fun.

If that’s not enough, the farm also boasts some classic country thrills like a barrel train, firetruck to explore, and even a truck slide. For the competitive types, try your hand at the basketball courts or step up to the batting cages for just a quarter to smash through 10 pitches. Plus, bungee trampolines and mechanical bull rides ($5 each) add even more excitement to your day at the farm. Griffin Farms has thought of everything, from a wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch to the giant tire mountain and firetruck photo ops.

Of course, no pumpkin patch visit is complete without grabbing a jack-o’-lantern. Pick out your perfect pumpkin for just $3, but act fast—the biggest and best ones go quickly!

If you’re looking for a bite to eat between all the fun, Griffin Farms has you covered with a delicious selection of food vendors. From Devil Dawgs to Wilson’s Kettle Corn, and even Da Pickle Pimp (yes, really), there’s something to satisfy every craving.

Don’t miss their special events either. On October 12th, the 10th Annual Classic Car Cruise-In sponsored by Crank-N-Chrome Garage rolls onto the farm, offering a treat for car enthusiasts alongside all the fall fun. And for homeschooling families, Homeschool Day is set for October 14th, offering early access to all the farm’s activities from 9 am-1 pm.

Griffin Farms is a family-friendly venue, so please leave the smoking, vaping, drugs, alcohol, and pets at home (service dogs are always welcome). With fall in full swing, there’s no better time to grab your family and head to the farm for some good old-fashioned autumn excitement. Visit www.GriffinFarmAL.com for more info or check out their Facebook page for the latest updates.

Be there, or be square! (Like the hay bales they also have there, even though they are rectangular – but they are colloquially known as square bales, and I don’t make the rules.)
