Tigers shutout region opponent Holt

The West Blocton Tigers got their first regional win this past Friday night, shutting out the Holt Ironmen by a score of 39-0. Leading the Tigers’ offense by ground attack was running back Nate Barron, gaining 135 yards on 17 carries with two touchdowns and quarterback Caden Fancher adding 82 yards on four carries with two touchdowns. Additional rushing yards were added by Cooper Deerman (54 yards) with one touchdown and Charles Graham (40 yards).  

The Tigers’ defense forced four turnovers on the night and did not allow an Ironmen first down until the middle of the third quarter. Leading tacklers on the night were Levi Carey (7), Evan Pearson (6), and McCord Sloan with (5). Cooper Deerman and Evan Pearson added two big hits to help set the defensive tone for the Tigers. The Tigers (2-2 overall, 1-1 region) travel to Oak Grove (3-1 overall, 1-1 region) for another regional game this Friday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
