As the new school year kicks off, Bibb County Schools are welcoming students with an array of exciting updates and improvements. Superintendent Kevin Cotner shared several key developments that reflect the district’s commitment to enhancing the educational environment across Bibb County schools.

In a notable upgrade, Brent Elementary School (BES) and Bibb County High School (BCHS) libraries received new flooring towards the end of the last school year, ensuring a refreshed and more functional space for students to learn and explore. Additionally, West Blocton Middle School (WBMS), Centreville Middle School (CMS), and BCHS have each been equipped with new classroom desks, providing students with improved and modernized learning environments.

The summer saw significant renovations at WBES, where restrooms were upgraded and LED lighting was installed in the hallways. This initiative is part of a broader plan to transition to LED lighting throughout all schools in the district, aiming to enhance energy efficiency and improve lighting quality across campuses.

Woodstock Elementary School (WES) also benefited from new flooring installed throughout the hallways in the original part of the school, further contributing to a more welcoming and updated atmosphere.

In addition to these improvements, several schools have seen upgrades in campus security with new fencing installed around their perimeters. This measure aims to provide a safer environment for students and staff alike.

Superintendent Cotner expressed his gratitude for the support received from volunteers, churches, businesses, and other community members. Their dedication and efforts have been instrumental in preparing the schools for the new academic year, demonstrating the strong community spirit that enhances the educational experience in Bibb County.

As the school year begins, these updates are set to make a positive impact on students’ learning environments, supporting their academic journey with better facilities and a more secure and engaging school experience.
