Mrs. Susie “Ma” Dean Caffee Kornegay, age 89, of Centreville, Alabama, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, May 24, 2024. Susie was born on July 3, 1934, to parents, Johnny Casta and Ruby Jewel Marchant Caffee. Mrs. Kornegay had a great love for cooking and her grandkids were her life. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Welford Kornegay; sons, Billy and Freddie Kornegay; sister, Faye Price. Her surviving relatives include her loving children, J W Kornegay (Mary Ann), Ray Kornegay (Sandy), and Ronnie Kornegay (Jerri); siblings, Betty Belcher, Rowena Rogers, and Glenn Caffee; 7-grandchildren and 22-great-grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Susie Dean Caffee Kornegay will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Haysop Baptist Church in Centreville, Alabama, with Pastor George Marchant officiating. The time of visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. with her service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Haysop Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Susie will be Jason Kornegay, Jarrod “Peanut” Kornegay, Lance Kornegay, Kenneth Colburn, Stan Stamps, Chris Webb, Hunter Murphy, and Jonathan Bolding. Honorary Pallbearers, Adam Steele, Ivan Duncan, great-grandchildren, Louise Finnen, Dian Brown, and the staff of Bibb Medical Center Nursing Home. Charter Funeral Home of Calera, Alabama handling her arrangements.
