Due to the recent wave of cold weather in Alabama, a surge in energy usage has resulted in higher bills for many Alabama Power customers. This unexpected increase in costs has caused concern among residents, leading to the creation of a petition urging Alabama Power to lower prices. As of now, the petition has amassed nearly 5,000 signatures. In response to the issue, Alabama Power has declared that no customers will face power disconnection for failure to make payments, at least for the time being.
In coordination with the Alabama Public Service Commission, Alabama Power commits that they will not disconnect customers due to non-payment through March 15th. Alabama Power understands the challenges being faced and are committed to supporting customers.
In response to the outcry for lower costs, Alabama Power is looking to help customers who can’t pay to receive the help they need and ask that any customers facing difficulties please contact them to discuss payment options.
To better serve customers, Alabama Power kindly request that before contacting them for assistance to first visit their website at www.alabamapower.com to see if the information you need is already available. If you do need to reach out to them, they encourage you to consider resources such as Project SHARE, LIHEAP, and ABC Trust Fund, which can provide help with your power bill.
